Types of NEMA Power Cords & NEMA Cables 2 Conductor Power Cords Two-conductor power cords are designed with 2 prongs and are used to power consumer electronics and other small appliances in ungrounded outlets. These heavy-duty cables have a locking device built into the ground socket, which grips to the inlet blade and prevents the cord from coming unplugged when strained. Convenient red tabs on the side of the connector allow the cord to be manually disconnected when needed.
